Habitat For Humanity Build

While doing my practicum I had the opportunity to participate and cooperatively supervise a 3-day volunteer co-op for students. We helped Habitat for Humanity in the building of a townhouse complex being constructed as low-income housing. During this experience I was supervising students while they insulated and cleaned a few of the units. We also we're visited by the superintendent and the director of education for the Upper Grand District School Board. I guided them through one of the units, explaining what the students had accomplished. The experience was great and the students and myself learned a great deal from the general contractor during a tour of the build. I also learned about how experiences like this are offered to students, this will serve me well as I enter a career in teaching.
